The 'Ole Family Album

Here are some recent photos:

Here is a picture of our cat, Sparky. Sparky is a stray we started feeding last winter.  He was a fairly regular visitor but would also stay away for days at a time. It made us think that he must belong to someone. Although he was a scrapper, he tended to get beaten up by other cats in the woods. After a neighbor’s cat got sick and died from FIV (feline AIDS), we decided that if someone else was feeding Sparky, they weren’t taking care of him, so we took him in. Tests revealed our worst fears, that Sparky has FIV himself, probably from fighting with infected wild cats. We couldn’t bear to lose him and have had him neutered and immunized for as much stuff as we can. He is very friendly and happy since joining our family. He loves to chase his tail when he’s not in our face demanding some attention. He is quite fond of chicken!

This is a picture of the seaside village of Vernazza, Italy taken during our trip in April 2004. As you can see, the mountains drop down into the sea and the village is incredibly beautiful.  There is a group of five nearby villages known as the Cinque Terre. They are protected as part of a national park and these villages look like they are frozen in time. For some of these villages, access is only possible via trains using tunnels blasted through the mountains along the coast in this area.

This picture was taken at Yarnton Manor near Oxford England in November 2003. I’m always amazed at how green England tends to be, even in what we think of as winter.

We went to the biggest Babylon 5 fan convention ever in October 1998 called Voice of the Resistance. The entire cast was there and we got everyone's autograph. We even got some pictures made with some of the actors. Here is Maria with friendly Mr. Morden from the show. I guess you could say that Maria is now an "associate" (sorry, if you don't watch the show, you won't get this).

Did I mention that I am a BIG Lost in Space fan? I guess I was at that age that I enjoyed Lost in Space more than Star Trek when it originally came out. In April 1998 I got to go to the first major LIS cast reunion in over ten years. It was held in Hollywood near Mann's Chinese Theatre. The first picture is lucky me with Marta Kristen who played Judy Robinson in the show. The next picture is me with Angela Cartwright (who played Penny). They both had cameos in this years Lost In Space movie. I met all of the cast including Dick Tufeld who is the voice of the robot. He was used in this year's Lost In Space movie as the robot's voice too.

Here is a picture from July 1999 of our nieces Jessica and Isabella Davis taken at their home in Maryville, Tennessee. Isabella is on the left.

Here is a picture of our newest car. It is the super cool 2003 Honda Element. I love that it is not round like a jelly bean like so many cars are now. It is technically an SUV but it uses an efficient low emission 4 cylinder engine and actually gets decent mileage.

When I was a kid, my favorite cartoon was Jonny Quest. I remember how much I looked forward to it. After all these years, Jonny Quest has just come out on DVD for the first time. Back in the 90s, I bought some limited edition cold cast models of the main characters and spent a summer assembling and painting it. It turned out pretty decent and I still admire it in the den.

Finally, a few older pictures… This is one of the few decent pictures of our wedding on August 31, 1979. What a cute couple!

Ah, the great old college days! I think this was a group of us playing in a Dungeons and Dragons tournament around 1978 (I seem to remember that we won)

Back in the 70s there was a movie called the Rocky Horror Picture Show. This was at one of the early Midnight shows in Knoxville.

Finally, here is a picture of yours truly meeting his buddy George Takei who played Mr. Sulu in the original Star Trek series at a convention in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1979. See I did have hair at one time!
